Hasbro actually copied DCC, because both still use spray apps for key features like the eyes, eyebrows, mouth, and hair. Whereas Bandai just uses the print to replace all that.
Both Hasbro and DCC use it as shading and weathering for their figures, since the print job is very low resolution and only works for areas that don't require high detail.
So you get near perfect looking shading and highlights, instead of a low quality 70s comicbook face.
