Old World tarantulas will probably be a lot cheaper and easier to get there, but they're not real beginner friendly. They're very fast and pack a nasty bite. Most New World species can fling itchy butt hairs at you, but they're slower and generally less bitey/significantly less venomous.

Setting up scenes for photoshoots seems like the easiest way to "use" the toys you buy and hoard. Some of the pics on here make me really wish I had a real camera. The most "use" I personally get out of my toys is when I sew clothes for them.
