>>9542794I watched GB2 on New Year's Eve and the retreading I previously had issues with didn't seem nearly as bad in light of Afterlife's constant member berries in your face. I actually applaud them for their restraint in not having Stay Puft, Terror Dogs, or Gozer resurface in any capacity, with not even a Stay Puft billboard or bag of marshmallows in the background of any scene. It gave us some brand new equipment compared to Afterlife only giving us upgraded versions of the old equipment. It gave us a bunch of cool new ghosts and a completely different main villain. It gave us a great original score instread of just regurgitating the music from the first film, as well as some memorable music tracks which have stood the test of time.
The retreads are really quite minor. Dana has a supernatural problem. Peter, Ray, and Egon make a bust which leads to an in business montage. There's a shit hitting the fan montage before the climax. Something giant walks through Manhattan. Venkman and Dana have a romance. GB2 really doesn't deserve the shit it gets. It did far more good for the franchise than harm, and I personally think the courtroom scene is the best in the series. The comedy of the trial is on point, and it ends with a great bust.
