You're only partially paying for Lego with Brickmania, most of it is for the novelty of having a set professionally printed and made, that Lego would never release.
But yeah, it's hard to justify the huge models. But they apparently have the fan base for it. To my furthest knowledge, they're the only company that is able to sell custom sets the way they do and have a sustainable business model. So good for them.
