Perhaps Takara just assumed "Scourge" is the name Hasbro would stick with after RiD'01, only to be blindsided by them creating "Nemesis"? Or maybe it does just boil down to them wanting to do a cheeky reference, since they did continue calling Optimus "Convoy" after all... Either way very weird. I believe the CR Autobots are still from the future like Gigatron's group, as I recall some blink-and-you-miss-it exposition somewhere about how they're time cops, and using the Autobot badge simply to blend in with the local robots, while Gigatron's Predacons don't care and thus don't adopt vehicle modes.
