>>6412076>Man, I wouldn't mind the modern prices if the quality was better.Adjust for inflation a $22.50 doll in the late 90s would be about $34.31 today, and that's where the problem might be.
I don't think many every day modern moms would randomly spend $33.78 on just one classic Disney doll today. Oh sure they might buy one for a childs birthday, but unless they were upper middle class they wouldn't just walk into the store, and buy their child three or four of them on an average day.
I have this vivid memory of Disney Store Dolls, and items being very expensive back in the day even for their time. In my family if it wasn't your birthday you could look, but not touch at the Disney store. Kinda like walking by a really expensive ice cream shop as a child, and pressing your nose up against the window to look at all the different flavors knowing that you would never ever find out what they actually tasted like because of the stores high prices. Then you would hear the Shops door open, and watched as a mom with two of her spoiled, and ungrateful kids would walk in.
As an adult collector I to wish Disney store classic dolls had better quality, but I'm also glad that they are now affordable for everyone, and not just the middle to upper middle class.
