>>10240675>It feels like we were at a peak in 2018-2019sure is zoomer who barely started collecting toys in 2015.
Peak toy-dom was back in 2007 and has been in a slow decline ever since Hasbro took over the Marvel license.
Since then they've cut down budgets on toys, leading to worse articulation, fewer paint apps, fewer accessories, cheaper plastics, and higher costs.
Toys went from being $7 for 6" in 2006 to doubling in price by 2011 to $14 and started costing $20 by 2014.
Yes, a few companies/brands didn't reach their high points until later, but even their prices have increased and quality hasn't actually improved. Just because brands like Figuarts had shit paint apps but improved by using "face printing" doesn't mean much, since those prints are budget cuts from the shading and weathering toys used to get.
Overall, the entire toy industry has been on a downward trend since around 2007, which links up with costs rising in China, after protests and riots.
Toy vendors have also shrunk in that time. Kay Bee Toys, Suncoast, Sam Goody, KMart, ToysRUs, and smaller companies have either disappeared or become shadows of themselves. So there have been far fewer places for toy companies to sell their shit to. All this started in the late 00s and by 2018, the largest toy only vendor disappeared from the US.
What OP is experiencing is the outcome of TRU's blackhole and vendors getting their piece of the marketshare all worked out, and toy makers starting to prepare for the worst economic downturn since the late 00s.
OP is fucking retarded for even crying about the 10% price increases and packaging being made worse, because so much worse shit happened in the late 00s.
