>>7031358You honestly thought you were getting a better sculpt from your toys because you paid more money?
Are you playing dumb or are you a fanboy?
See OP and how that sculptors toys are just done in his style. His figures cost less when they are made by Kaiyodo and the Alien he did isn't even that much more expensive than your average Figma.
Then there are the Hasbro figures which have super accurate sculpts, that usually faithfully reproduce the actor/comic. Same with NECA, DCC, McFarlane, and other companies which produce toys from $8-$25. Companies like NECA, DCC, MCFarlane, are all collector companies, so it's a no shit that you should expect better sculpts. Yet Hasbro makes toys for kids and their sculpts are some of the best in the industry.
Sculpt quality has everything to do with just who the company hires. It never correlates with the price of the toy. As far as i can tell, Bandai does not hire any high tier sculptors, so they've never produced anything that rivals other companies in terms of sculpt quality. Figma has various sculptors who can reproduce anime styles almost perfectly. Same with Kaiyodo.
In short, sculpt quality has nothing to do with the price.
I should also point out that mold quality has very little correlation either, because modern technology hasn't changed much since the 90s. They're basically at peak. Various resins can produce better molded detail, but toy companies avoid them because they're fragile
