Boys wanted TMNT, but towards the end we had none. And there just wasn't anything a child would want really on those pegs.
Transformers was doing ok, but most of the good stuff was being bought by adults and most of the Michael Bay stuff wasn't of interest to kids outside of Optimus Prime or Bumblebee. Parents also didn't like paying $20 or so for decent Transformers.
Marvel had a similar problem. Kids wanted their favorite Marvel heroes, but most of the toys were crap, and parents didn't like paying around $20 for a Marvel Legend.
No kids bought DC though. They wanted Batman, but not Justice League stuff.
