Even if other locomotives were actually clocked faster, they don't count because they didn't use the exact measuring instruments the Brits used for Mallard. Kind of how the Air Force actually broke the sound barrier with a wheeled vehicle by strapping a Sidewinder missile to a rocket car, but it doesn't count for the land speed record because obviously no instruments but the ones at the Bonneville Salt Flats count. Never mind that air force radar confirmed the speed and a sonic boom was recorded.
