Nor does it come in a form fitting bubble and window package like action figures, which is so costly that Hasbro was knocking $5 off the cost of a toy when only using a simple box like most model kits use.
And unlike an action figure, this shit will break if used like a toy, because it has less engineering to stand up to play.
I won't say anything about the cost of the plastics, because no one on /toy/ knows the exact make up of the plastics and the varying costs behind it. Though companies like Mattel and Hasbro do pay extra than some collector company, since everything is specially tested by their own chemical engineers.
