>>9687289You can add an inch without raising the cost a lot. It's really one of the cheapest ways of adding value to a toy, because the cost doesn't increase in a significant amount until it's big enough to require more molds. This is why lines by Diamond and NECA didn't cost that much more than an ML, despite being 7" and being sold to a tinier market place. This is why McFarlane's DC figs $20 are 7", despite having more articulation and completely new molds for nearly every character, unlike MLs.
Actual value would be increasing accessory count, complexity of the detail (like guns having actual barrel holes), or new bodies.
So the Space Marines multipacks, they're almost all samefag, except with a different head or a different accessory. This is why i was able to buy these Russian Marines for less than $100 for 5 figures. Buying the single figures, featuring unique bodies? Expensive.
>>9687295Their paint work is costly even if you don't like it. But you're missing the point, in that JoyToy is charging nearly as much without any care for QC. So the Warhammer stuff is as expensive as it because of JoyToy pretends to be quality like Acid Rain, charges nearly as much, and then adds the licensing cost.
If a company like Hiya made the Space Marines, they'd probably cost $30 or less. And Hiya actually puts in a lot of effort into their toys.
i havent bought any of the Space Marines, because I've been burned after so many years of JoyToy having shit QC, but pic was released just last year. I'm still cautious about their plastics, because that's the real game breaker, so I'm waiting to see how these guys hold up and these threads to see if it still happens.
