man, it sure is weird being a transformers collector completely uninterested in the current lines. I'm sure its happened to plenty of people of the decades, but up until this point I saw redeeming qualities in all of the lines.
I haven't been around since the beginning, I started collecting around Beast Wars. I ate that up, I liked a lot of Beast Machines figures, got my hands on all of the original Robots in Disguise that I could, collected the mini-cons of Armada with a childlike fervor, I was happy to combine Fatimus with wingsaber, thought Cybertron was a fantastic line, sucked the classics line until it was dry and begged me to stop, ate up the first and second bay movie, i loved animated, universe and generations
and eventually we got combiner wars, titans return, and power of the primes. In all of these toylines I have never been so disinterested, yet here we are and I fear for the future of the franchise, truly.
it was not so long ago that the fan service was ripe, the fan service was noble, the fan service was goddamned magnificent.
the phrase "darkest timeline" gets thrown around a lot, but i fear for me as a transformers fan, this really is, as i see no turn around, return to form, or true progression for my favorite franchise
