Large chains like Target/Walmart actually get their shit first, since they probably just take the container from the shipping yard and off it goes to their distribution center. Whereas smaller stores like BBTs, that's shipped to some warehouse and sorted by the distributors, shipped to distributor's warehouse, and then shipped to BBTS.
I'm probably skipping a few more processes, but that's generally how it goes.
All these steps are why there are those dated "DO NOT SELL" stickers on boxes, because it can take roughly a month to ship everything to the vendors and vendors don't want anyone else to have a leg up on sales just because the competition got their stock earlier than them.
