Went to goodwill over a week ago. Since fucking with dollies is my flavor-of-the-month hobby, instead of walking past the creepy naked barbie bin, I went and had a look. Got two MtM figures for two bucks each. Should have got more dolls, but whatever. Apparently, they are the "petite" and "tall" types, and of some ambiguous complexion. I bough them originally to take apart, wanted to see if these can be disassembled without damaging them, might not do that now though.
Now, I dig the idea of different body types, and I can live with averaging their proportions a bit, but these designs could use some help. Their torsos are about as shapely as a slab of wood, the waist in particular being too straight, the limbs aren't just small, but spindly, and the heads: They use the same size heads on these smaller builds, making the head look too big for the body, and the facial features on these two are odd; The mulatto doll's eyes are too far apart, and the lanky one looks like they couldn't decide what she was supposed to be (Hispanic? Stretched-out asian? Native American?)
On the upside, they definitely have personality, but it wouldn't kill mattel to be a little more generous with their body shapes.
