>>10215017>Again, there were 50+ people at that panel about GI Joe when they talked about Roadblock. The claim is a bold lie because they released Roadblock the same year Heavy Duty was turned into Roadblock's job, so either you are lying or your mystery panel person was lying.
>yet you want to pretend that fans, panels, interviews didn't exist during the transitional era of the internet I never said anything of the sort. Information was given, some in this very thread. Clearly something went fucking weird with Roadblock and Heavy Duty and people like to bullshit but Hasbro has never explained why from 2002 to 2011 they were trying to replace Roadblock out of the major media. It wasn't a trademark issue because you can look at all the toys made of him at the same time they were trying to replace him. Like an anon already noted it's not even Hasbro's MO to fully replace a character, just rename them, and interviews we do have for this time period confirm that with how they handled the Dreadnoks and many of the late 80 Joes that lost their names briefly. So something else happened here. Could have been something complicated or it was just the pettiness of someone on the team that came after Kirk Bozigian 80s Joe empire wanting to crave out his/her own creations and push out the old guard like Roadblock.
I'm all for listening to the claims and ideas of what happen but as it stands, there is no evidence it was as simple as his name was the issue because we can see what they did with the know 10+ names they lost and had to reinvent, and all of them were either to add an adjective/title in front of said name, or just give them a new name. None of them, not even Shockwave who is verging on being a "who?" of the late 80s Joes were out right replaced.
