>>10573937it's called a flight deck and was built for take offs, but as I understand it you basically had to rev the engine while holding the breaks and then release at full power to just about make it in the old light biplane fighters (even bombers would be too heavy). It was barely used because it's as dangerous as it sounds and became literally useless once heavier aircraft entered service
