the timing of these is not a coincidence, is it? I wonder what went down. were there negotiations that left them each feeling like "WTF do we need them for? we can do this without them..."
I don't think there was enough time for Squishmallow to have seen the CMF and said "WTF they ripped us off! we can do that to them, too!"
either way, the Lego Squishmallows illustrate perfectly why we will NOT get minifig-scaled Pokemon. those pillow plushies are simply printed on the same piece. and it's clearly impossible to make whole sets around these tiny pieces. (and expect to make those sets cost $100+)
