The Copperhead, the Charger R/T, the Power Wagon, the Atlantic (pic related)...I don't think they were serious production candidates. Other automakers did lots of similar things back then. And a lot of them got diecast versions. Good marketing I suppose; I knew all of these as a child. But the cars that actually hit the market overall did not deliver on the promises the prototypes made. There were a couple of exceptions.
Shit, these days I don't even keep up with things enough to know if car companies still do this. But from what I do know it seems everything that gets revealed is slated for production. I guess Mazda has that RX successor thing floating around that will probably never see a street?
