>>7829141To be fair, it was paramount who killed GI Joe by delaying the movie a full year after the movie toyline came out. I don't think HAsbro had much choice when it came to Paramount telling me that they fear the movie bombing because of aVengers hogging all the sales or the hope that GI Joe 2 explodes into a giant franchise when released against nothing major in 3d.
No 2 hour commercial for a massive movie toyline pissed off retailers like nothing else.
I think this ended the entire era where every movie was getting a toyline too. Retailers had a whole mess of toylines that bombed during this time.
Nowadays it's basically only superhero movies that get toylines... and Transformers.
