>>8676890The Rainbow High body is literally just a knockoff minifee body shrunken down to 1/6th scale and given a mutant head lol.
>>8675932It was the price and the fact that they took up so much shelf space and also because my local stores never knew where to display them so the right customer never even saw them and it was constantly moved around.
Also, just like every other non Barbie Mattel doll, the stylisation was fucking awful. The massive heads and feet basically made the dolls impossible to display with your other dolls, but they were bland and too blank to justify starting a whole new collection based purely on them. Their downfall was being too much of a blank slate, cuz i never felt compelled to buy more than one since the only thing that made me get my first was the fact I liked all of the clothes included. The fact that the others' clothes didn't interest me at all made me pass up on them cuz there was nothing special about the dolls themselves.
Also the fashion packs sucked ass since Mattel is so braindead and can't do limited palettes none of the pieces truly could mix and match cuz everything clashed.
Add to that the wigs were fucking disgusting, and the short hairstyles were often riddled with issues too.
So if I could fix the brand:
-proper 1/6th proportions that matched with Stacie or Skipper
-have the doll come with one extra outfit and a smaller box rather than 3 and charge $15-$20 instead
-fashion packs that came with a neutral item like a pair of jeans or a white t shirt and crazy bottoms so you have more mix n match possibilities
-ditch the wigs and just sell dolls with either short or long hair or do swappable heads instead of wigs
-different face paint on each doll so you feel more drawn to buying more than one
-don't even market it as "gender neutral" but just focus on the brand as fun fashion play and don't draw attention to the fact the dolls aren't gendered like how Pokemon games do it nowadays
