Many of his subsequent films had the same special effects director (Tsuburaya), composer, and actors as well. Tanaka (the man who created Godzilla) produced every Godzilla movie from 1954-1995. What I'm trying to say is that the same people who made the original movie were heavily involved in most of the sequels as well. I don't think every Godzilla movie is great, but I think most of them are enjoyable with only a handful of stinkers. That's a pretty good record for a franchise with over 30 movies under its belt.
