Gunpla did not release alongside the particularly dire first airing of the show, and the toys that did were absolute shithouse. Gundam's transition to a toy commercial basically happened the same way Star Wars' did when they introduced tribal fighting teddy bears and a cartoon rabbit that steps in poopie and speaks in ebonics.
