The budget cut was definitely a major factor and it sucks that they decided they weren't even going to give Bionicle a chance, but even without the shit advertising I'm not sure an original theme like Bionicle would be able to succeed. I really hope you didn't actually stop reading there and actually gave some thought to the rest of my post. I mean the evidence is there; aside from Ninjago no modern theme has been able to compete with the licensed ones. Just look at all of the Lego's current themes and see how many are licensed from an existing IPvs how many of the discontinued ones are original themes. I hate to be a "kids these days" doomer but we really are living in a world dominated by big franchises that pretty much crush any original ideas that try to compete. Kids aren't really allowed much room for imagination anymore.
