In fact I'd argue that in the US, Snoopy is far overrepresented in merchandise. Only in Japan have I seen merch of characters such as Emily.
It's kind of a misconception I often see regarding Peanuts and Japan, there's a sort of exoticized view of how Snoopy is treated there because it's marketed similarly to like Sanrio characters.
