I went with a dremel 3000 kit. It probably has pieces you personally may never use, but it's not much more than the cost of the base tool and having the case is nice for storage and transport.
I also often use a hobby hand drill for repairing snapped pegs. I'll drill a tiny hole in each piece then glue and wedge a metal pin to hold them together.
It also is useful for carefully making a pilot hole before using a dremel for a final hole.
