Big shoulders and super robot type chest plate work so well.
Couple clever things in the transformation like the way the masses of the shoulders swing around to the outside via these long angled stalks. Or the way the arms seamlessly emerge from inside the engine, bringing a fin from the dome with them.
Pulling the double duty of keeping his width in check and keeping the fly guy style consistent through the whole figure.
Another cool little detail is how after you unfold the arms and legs you reveal molded thrusters on the back of each limb. Form that is function.
