Donald for example, would probably benefit more from melee due to his super and the fact that his best range moves require a charge time.
I haven't reassigned my Donald since going to 3.0, but if I had to distribute his stats again, I'd probably go something like this

I also wouldn't put anything on speedy meter upgrades since meter is easy enough to build. Especially for Donald since destroying a horde of enemies actually generates a bunch of meter as he's wasting it. I upgraded his melee attack. You could probably remove one super meter bar and put the points towards Uncontrolled Anger Level 2 if you want to decrease the time for Simmering Anger, but that depends on you.
