Toys today are much better made and more durable than in the 80s and 90s. Yellowing plastics, leaking plasticizers, rubber bands snapping in packages, and figures that shattered if they hit the floor. I have so many 80s GI Joes whose thumbs and crotches have disappeared.
Stuff from the 80s and 90s were already noticeably decomposing within the same decade.
Almost everything I've bought in 2000-2010 looks brand new. Toys today compared to the stuff we were getting in aughties feel poorer, but it's too soon to tell.
