>>8471249To be EVER so slightly fair, the primary setting is Faerun, a setting that has always canonically been INCREDIBLY lax on concepts of sexuality. And not because of social justice on the part of it's creator. Incest, interracial(more like interspecies), homosexuality, none of it was out of bounds for Faerun, Elminster himself(Greenwood's PC) even spent years living as a woman and engaged in a lesbian relationship with his mentor as part of his 'training'.
But to remove some of that slight fairness, WotC has never touched on those aspects outside of the Drow being Drow of the Forgotten Realms. Don't recall if they ever even had gay couples in their campaign books before now. So them doing all this stuff now is definitely not them being true to the original vision of Faerun lore but cashing in on wokeness. BUT it's not exactly abnormal for typical Faerun shenanigins, it's just when they put in explicitly 'trans' characters that it becomes more of an issue in a setting where tons of folk have changed gender with little to no conniptions about their identity.
And yes all that crazy sex stuff is 100% canonical and WotC can NOT retcon it without Greendwood saying so. So if ever you see mention of stuff like 'Festhall/Ardashir' in a novel or campaign book from WotC, pic related is what that is refering to. they will just mention that one exists and leave it at that.
