>>6337734Spring is always a low point in sales because there's nothing really new on the market (most spring wave stuff releases in the winter), so of course an additional line releasing in the spring would create a sales bump. 23% total increase won't make up for the abysmal box office though.
According to Bandai's annual report they made about $165 million last year off of Power Rangers (including Super Sentai). Even if it was a 23% increase for the entire year (movie toy sales will likely decline the second half of the year) that's less than a $40 million increase in sales. Some of that may be attributed to Ninja Steel getting a sales bump over the second season of Dino Charge, or Kyuranger being more popular than Zyuohger, but even if we assume the sales increase is purely from movie merch that still doesn't even recoop the costs of the film's budget and marketing. And mind you there's still production/manufacturing costs that need to be accounted for, so it's not even $40 mil of profit.
I drop these facts because I already see people clinging to this as hope for a sequel, but all it really does is show Bandai they can release more products or an additional line without oversaturating the market.
