The praise came before the movies were released, because it took a while for the story to GIT GUD. Heaps of praise was given to Greg Weisman, who is known for making amazing cartoons like Gargoyles, Young Justice, and Spectacular Spiderman.
Season 2 hype and its release also came before Force Awakens came out.
To say only Dibney fans praised it is just bullshit you need to create in order to protect your stupid little fantasy world that you're trying to push.
