Trivia: the J22's main landing gear doors closed up when the gear was out.
The kit likewise had some... special engineering of the landing gear. First, drill holes in the fuselage to stick the main legs through. Now these main legs don't have any bulge on them or anything to make them stop at the right distance,. Nope, instead you get a template to cut out of the manual (the very, very flimsy paper manual) to guide you somewhat to getting them at the right depth and angle. Then glue them in place, and after having had to account for the somewhat irregular shape of the legs and the angle they're to be at you'd better having something more filling than Extra Thin handy. And this joint will be supporting all the weight.
Then add the the supporting strut, that haven't got anything much to slot into on the fuselage, and nothing whatsoever to mate up against on the legs.
