McFarlane can handle collector and "kids toys"(even though I doubt many kids are into Super powers), and Spinmasters does regular Kids toys, but Mattel is a massive company that does toys for both segments those companies do, and more. And since they're a big company, they'll likely be able to net more sales and product space
I know they still had the toddler toy and doll license during this time, but having the ability to coordinate all that under one roof is a good selling point.
Just think, during these last 5 years, did you ever see a full endcap or big display for any DC movie? Yeah there hasn't been much, but Spinmasters and Mcfarlane's movie lines have been paltry. Which is a good thing for them since they underperformed, but it doesn't look good to what execs would want.
