>>10413124My main model hobby is gundam, but I want to do other stuff too. But since I know gundam, so I will use it as an example.
Pic related is a beginner kit, its fully color seperated, has full articulation with complete freedom of movement. Granted its a snapfit kit, but this kit costs $7.
$7 for a complete and fully colored figure with articulation and accessories.
Gundam's molding quality is easily the top of the modleing industry. Even for these cheap beginner kits.
I just googled warhammer on a whim, cause I was looking for something different to do and the name is familiar enough, and even a basic set of whats basically five plastic army men, costs three times as much as this fully articulated gundam figure. I just don't see how the prices make sense for whats in the box. And I've looked up reviews, there's flashing and minor errors all over WH figures. Meanwhile, if you find a single error in any gundam figure, they'll replace the entire sprue for free once you file the proper reports to prove you're not scamming them.
People will argue that its a game so its different. Not really, since unofficial table top rulesets exist that let you play with your gundam models, infact its a very similar if not identical squad based tactics game.
I think its one of those sunk costs fallacy, once you put money into it, you might as well keep doing it.
