Unfortunately, that 'added support on his arms' comes in the form of some odd armatures that make up part of his 'wings' in alt mode; the things are a bit of a pain to reconfigure and the balljointed tips have a habit of popping out of their sockets, but they can be posed and made to move along with his arms in pretty much any position other than directly over his head so long as you're patient with them.
He has no waist rotation to speak of, but his upper thighs and shins right above the kneecaps can rotate to give him some potential for dynamic poses.
