I've never been a big fan of pure PPP comparisons though. Especially when 6209 obviously has some way bigger pieces in it. Just look at the canopy and the size of the curved slopes compared to the size of anything in 75312. There has been considerable inflation since 2006, but not enough to justify the massive difference in value between both sets.
The 2021 set is basically the same value proposition as pic related, except it released in 2000 for $20 (31.27 in 2021). At best you could say they threw in an extra minifig and raised the price by an extra $20.
