The Leo needs a parachute to even jump out of a carrier and a separate piece of equipment if it even wants to operate properly in space. It plods around with big heavy steps firing a fuckmad drum-fed machine gun or some other more traditional firearms. They don't get beam anything unless the pilot is worth a damn. To me, they personify what it is to be a mobile suit. A massive powerful humanoid with all the advantages and disadvantages that come with that.
