The Lost Protectors Kickstarter was the brain child of Rik Alvarez, a fired Hasbro employee that a lot of people at the company hated. It was all under his own indy toy company "Play With This Too".
Aaron Archer along with a few IDW and former Dreamwave artists (Joe Ng, Don Figureoa and EJ Su just to name a few) each was tasted to draw up Rik's concepts that would be broken down into parts for it's Glyos system. Aaron was asked to give his blessing but was not a major part of the company or project.
The Kickstarter failed badly due to Rik's already negative reputation and when the Kickstarter was ran again for a 2nd time, all the artists (including Archer) distanced themselves from the project due to how aggressive Rik was getting on social media with people.
A few years later Rik would do a panel at TFcon Chicago 2018 which many on TFW2005 and Allspark dubbed the "How to burn every bridge in the toy industry panel" as Rik just listing names within Hasbro and other companies and how stupid or ignorant they were.
Rik has been unemployed for the past 8 years while according to fellow 3P designer of BMOG his wife has been "picking up the tab"
