People were annoyed by the OC limbs for Aerialbots, Protectabots and Stunticons but they were designed well enough to be loved in spite of them being OCs. People liked the idea Blackjack and things were going well. Then the confusing retooled OC Autobot combiners rolled in. They don't make the Masquerade team short of Prime and Mirage so it seems to have nothing going on other than "hey guys rather than finishing those combiners you really want here is something you never asked for" and it only got awkward when the Combaticons released where the whole team but Brawl was retools. Onslaught was HotSpot retooled, Swindle was heavily retooled Rook but Vortex was Alpha Bravo with zero retooling and even worse Blast Off was just Slingshot/Quickslinger in Blast Off's deco, no retool head, no attempt to make it look like a space shuttle, nothing. At least Alpha Bravo was clearly suppose to be Vortex, but Slingshot/Quickslinger shares basically nothing with the original toy or show model, Brawl being a mediocre tank also didn't help but then pissing even harder in the eye of fans retooling Silverbolt into mediocre Scattershot with none of his teammates until they do a 6 team set that came with the same mediocre Scattershot.
Hasbro really snatch defeat from the jaws of victory for how strong CW started.
