Found some of the new WCT/Jaz wave at Target in VA. Here's my review on them. I am a 1/12 scale collector so keep that in mind when I talk about scale. The usual issues of spotty paint jobs persist as they have with every WCT wave so just check the figures in package for any major flaws before purchasing.
Limited Articulation:
A very strange and unnecessary design decision they've made is that they've shaped pegs in a way that the articulation of cut joints is purposely limited. Yes, you read that right. They've designed the joints to limit the range you will get from them. Take Raichu for instance here. His head can't rotate more than about 45° left or right because of that extrusion coming off the round neck peg. Every joint on every figure is like this. Heads, arms, and legs. In fact, most are limited to about 45° rotation in either direction from the default position. If you rotate them beyond the point where the extrusions are located, they look gappy and start to pull away from the rest of the figure.
In the case of Sirfetch'd 's right arm, the extrusion extends further than the base of the arm so not only do you have limited articulation, but it also affects the appearance of the figure. This is truly one of the dumbest design decisions I've seen a modern toy company make and is very bizarre. I honestly hope they do away with this shit immediately.
This is exactly the thing that worries the hell out of me with their super articulated 6" line coming out soon. The Charizard articulation from the leaked pics already looks mediocre to me from an appearance standpoint since I can see several joints that would have looked + functioned better if designed differently. If they do dumb shit like this purposefully limiting rotation crap with the articulation for the 6" line, I'm going to be extremely frustrated.
