There were admittedly a handful of sets that suffered to to make the rest shine, but it was a worthwhile trade off if you ask me. The reuse of the Inika torsos was something that should have been dropped the year after, the system sets were predictably mediocre, and the fragility of lime green parts, well... None of those things were by design, and I'd hardly hold the designers accountable for compromises and business decisions they little say in.
If you mean the story, shit was already going south by 2004, the tone took a turn in 2005, and 2006 was the point of no return. There was no stopping the edge by then.
