Playmates Toys got the license again because they were going to produce movie toys, which never happened since the new film didn’t move forward. So their Trek line didn't have a good boost and ended. Hopefully, this new iteration will move forward. Spin Master presented a pitch to Paramount on the toys they would make, including playsets and figures, with a focus on unique alien characters from Star Trek as well as legacy ones that look interesting, not just the old boring uniform characters. They also proposed an Enterprise model that can fit one or two action figures inside.
