Use the chapters as “homework.” For example, the part where it tells you how to shoot in the dark can be an opportunity to learn while shooting something like Batman or Daredevil or some other shit that makes sense in the dark.
Tons of YouTube shit out there. If you’re looking for something to help with evoking a mood I recommend Every Frame a Painting. Basically a breakdown of why directors specifically shoot scenes the way the do.
You could also just pick it up as you go recreating things like art, covers, posters, or in my case, movie scenes
