>>10984327>it's a similar situation to when Jennifer Lawrence put the kibosh on the Diamond Select Mystique they prototyped for Days of Future Past.Again: because Marvel was cockblocking Fox and Sony. Saying Jennifer Laurence didn't like her sculpt was just an excuse to not release the figure, because Sony and Fox can sue Hasbro/Marvel for cockblocking various contracts they have in place for merch.
Again, you don't know shit. That cockblocking was why we got next to nothing from Fox and Sony movies from 2013 until whenever Sony and Fox gave into demands from Marvel. Again, you can see how far Marvel went because they fucked over their own comics to keep interest in those properties down.
>Then why didn't they do that for Toby? Toby came from hugely popular movie series. Andrew Garfield didn't (part of why Sony relented to Marvel), so they had to advertise a literal who from a movie that bombed in theaters in a special way.
>Merchandise rights are different than likness rightsAgain, likeness rights have been included since the 90s, because studios noticed likeness rights were important and actors were getting paid royalties off toys where ALL the royalties should be going to the movie studio. Greedy as fuck, but that's how contracts have been written since the 90s.
We've heard about Jack Nicholson having the pull to get his own rights seperate, but that was in the 80s, before likeness rights were signed away to the studio just by being in the movie.
So again, you don't know shit. You brought up 1980s movies, when we know that likeness rights weren't universaly included until the 90s. And Jennifer Laurence, when we knew that Marvel was cockblocking Fox and Sony during that time. And we know that was true because Marvel Comics themselves poisoned their own comics for those specific characters during those times and suddenly Fox toys AFTER Disney bought Fox.
