>>11434854>>11434902NTA, but here you go
>>11434897Is probably on the right track though because I'm fairly sure both AK and Vallejo have polyurethane in them which goes all rubbery when mixed with stronger solvents.
All of the sub-80 IQ anons that did not understand what water-based means, feel free to keep your opinions to yourselves. Anyone that actually knows about chemistry, please do chip in.
The test:
Paint: AK 3rd gen Ice Yellow (AK11036)
Thinners:
- Tamiya Lacquer thinner
- Mr. Color 400
- Tap water
- MIG Universal thinner for acrylics (not sure it's being produced anymore, Black label with white and red text, 200ml)
- AK 3rd gen thinner
Results:
Both Tamiya and Mr. Color made the paint break. Though for Tamiya the layer actually went down pretty well. BUT any subsequent layers will 100% strip off the previous one. Didn't have any X-20 on hand.
Water, MIG and AK produced fairly similar results. AK coverage was the best, unsurprisingly. MIG just dried a bit quicker than water. Water actually seemed to leave a slightly more uniform coverage than MIG thinner.
For brush painting with 3rd Gen I just use a brush moistened in water. For airbrushing I have used the MIG thinner, but now I'll be moving on to the AK one I guess after I run out of MIG.
