Seeing all the customs of a lot of skilled artists is what really gave me the push to start buying model kits and paints and an airbrush. Every kit I've bought I plan on painting, scrubbing panels, etc. As the transformation from cheap looking plastic to something a lot more complex looking really does it for me.
It feels a lot better when you put your own "signature" on it too, rather than just letting it sit after putting it together. But I understand why someone would be content with just snapping it together
