>>8124638>refuting your claim that Todd made hyper-articulated figures. But they are. You're only saying this retrospectively, but back then, that was considered super articulated. Again, standards change and McFarlane pushed for a new standard. See pic on what was considered super articulated in the 90s.
>he's never pushed for it.Then who was putting the 20-30PoA into those figures then? Again, if McFarlane didn't liek articulation, he would ahve stayed just doing the 5-8 cuts joints like the 90s. Instead, we started getting ball hinges, barbell joints, and Revoltech-type joints. See also his barbell heavy Halo line too.
>Semi-articulated statuesYet they'er more poseable than any GI Joe or Toy Biz from before the 00s. THIS is a contradiction.
>It's because Todd wants to remake his old Spawn figures using modern technologyLOL! ok, IGNORE what fans have been posting on /toy/ and other forums for close to a decade now. You're also ignoring what McFarlane himself has been saying as well.
Again, you want to claim that McFarlane DOESN'T want to add joints, yet here you are claiming that McFarlane hmself just wants to redo it with modern technology? Another contradiction. Nevermind that technology really hasn't progressed (in terms of joints) since McFarlane was using barbell joints, ball-hinges, revoltech-type joints (before REvoltech even existed) since the early 00s. It's all the same shit, but standards have changed (more articulation and having it evenly distributed).
>>8124591>you claiming how the japanese were stuck in the 80sI said 90s, and used an example of one of the few articulated collector lines that was 90s Playmates style. See also that Kaiyodo EVA figure, which is also a bunch of cut/swivel joints, ala 90s McFarlane (pre-posed with an odd distribution of joints for the sake of pre-posed sculpt).
>plenty of great examplesLike what? Microman? GI Joes level. Also a kids toyline and no Japanese collector line copied their engineering.
