As far as I'm concerned the theme has so very many strong elements going for it:
-Green canopies - had been used before (so abundant), good color, good variety.
-Gray and black with red accents - all these colors were widespread so they were good choices not only for aesthetics but also parts availability
-Minifigures have two torso types, looked very detailed. I would say the electronics one holds up to today's standards.
-Minifigure heads had cool communicators but were not overly detailed.
-Theme had quite a good selection of parts that you could work with but also a good balance of play features.
So what went wrong? Why is SPII such a forgotten theme?
I've very rarely seen it mentioned here with almost no posts about any of their sets or MOCS. Online you can find very few MOCs compared to what other themes have.
The line was quite small too, with only 7 sets, 4 of which were small.
So what went wrong? Was it the short run time? Was it the small number of sets?
I honestly feel it is too underrated for what it brings to the 90s Lego Space themes.
