I've had so many "My kids bought this with me knowing it. Pls cancel." excuses that I made a macro. Here it is for you other sellers to copypasta:
"You are not the first customer who wanted to cancel a sale on a winning auction due to a mischievous child. It is amazing how so many young children can log on & navigate a fairly complex site like eBay! I guess that's the effect of a child born in an internet age. :)
I will tell you the same thing I have told others. No. If I canceled your purchase, I would still be left paying the eBay listing fees. It is not right that I should suffer monetarily for your child's transgressions. Nor is if fair to the other earnest bidders whom your child outbid.
However, if you do not want to pay, that is acceptable to me. We can both just wait as the sale automatically goes through the resolution center in 2 days and closes in 4 days. I will get my listing fees refunded and will be able to re-list the item. You will have advantage of not paying, but you will get an unpaid item strike on your account.
I know this is not what you exactly wanted, but as a parent it is your responsibility to accept the blame for your child's misdeeds against others. I hope that you will give them a suitable punishment so that they will not do this again. Thank you for understanding and I hope you have a nice day."
